LAUNCH PARTY! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Green Pages News Fairy

We can hardly believe it but the Green Pages has been sent to the printers and we'll be taking delivery of the finished product in a couple of weeks. It's so exciting the Green Pages team are running round the office going like this: “WAAAAHOOOOOOOO!!11”.

So all that remains is the launch party. Please join us at the Ralli Hall Farmers' Market on Sunday 7 December between 10am – 2pm. Apart from all the usual farmers' market excellentness, you will be able to pick up some free mulled wine courtesy of Fallen Angel Brewery, get stuck in to a clothes swapping party, listen to some top experts talking on the topic of Life after Shopping and hear twiddly gutairy loveliness from Richie Ladd and Caroline Kendall.

Clothes swap
The clothes swap will run from 10am – 12pm in the studio at the back of the market. Just bring a bag of old, clean and wearable clothes and get stuck in. Entry to the clothes swap is free unless you come empty handed, in which case we'll be asking for one of your Earth pounds. In exchange you get entry to a massive room full of free clothes. It's not a bad deal. Just to confirm entry to the farmers' market is free as usual - it's the clothes swap we are discussing here.

Very interesting talks
The talks start from 12:30pm. Richard Docwra, author of Modern Life: As Good as it gets? will be asking whether money and stuff makes us happy, Martin Grimshaw, from Greenspeak, will be talking about the Green New Deal, Daniel Bettridge, from the Green Pages' amazing sponsor Green Rocket, will be telling us why social enterprise is a force to be reckoned with and Susan Murray, from the Lewes Pound, will be talking about the phenomenal success of the town's local currency. Chaired by Green Pages editor Sarah Lewis.

Oh, and of course remember to pick up your copy of the 2009 Brighton & Hove Green Pages.

As a small aside, the GP is not-for-profit venture so if you are feeling at all flush and/or appreciative for the resource please bring with a little bit of money to go in our donations bucket to help us run again next year.

Looking forward to seeing your bright smiling faces on Sunday 7 December.

Love and hugs

That's it, folks

We have now reached the final, final deadline for the 2009 Brighton & Hove Green Pages. Every listing you have sent us already will now go into the book. The book will be printed in a couple of weeks and launched, officially, at the Ralli Hall Farmers' Market on Sunday 7 December.

Keep checking back for more details on that because it will be a good 'un, with a big old clothing swap shop followed by free mulled wine followed by a fascinating debate panel hosted by moi and featuring Richard Docwra, author of Modern Life: As Good As It Gets? and everyone's favourite green man about town, Greenspeak's Martin Grimshaw.

So just to clarify: any Green Pages listing entered after this point - right now - will be displayed on the website but will not be featured in the print edition of the 2009 Brighton & Hove Green Pages.

All listings will be available free of charge on the website with the next couple of weeks. How exciting. Registering on the left-hand side will automagically sign you up for our newsletter so you can stay up to date with all the latest and wildly exciting Green Pages news. Woo.

What is the Green Pages?
Written by Sarah
Wednesday, 15 October 2008 14:18

The Green Pages is a brilliant guide to greener living in Brighton, Hove and all the other bits around the edges. It is produced by the Brighton Peace and Environment Centre.

So what is greener living? It is as simple as doing your recycling, getting your bike out of the shed and dusting off the cobwebs, or choosing to buy an apple grown in the UK instead of one flown in from New Zealand.

The difficult bit is changing the many and subtle habits we have built up over our lifetimes, and that is what the Green Pages is for. By carefully selecting the businesses and organisations which make a specific effort to nurture and improve our world, we can help you make those decisions which at first can seem confusing or scary.

And that is it. A simple, brilliant guide to greener living in Brighton, Hove and all the bits around the edges.
